Crazy Flash Freeze?

So a couple days ago i was hanging out with my friends and we went down to Lake Ontario since i live relatively close to it. We just go there to hang out a lot. Well apparently the past couple nights its been cold as fuck on the shore and this happened:

I wish i grabbed some more pictures but oh well. It was one of the coolest things iv ever seen for sure, all of the rocks along the shore had a perfect inch thick layer of ice on them. I was standing on a dock and the top of it was just covered in giant chunks of ice like the ones seen floating in the water. In the first pic the thing that looks like a pipe is another dock, you can see how ice covered it is.

Anyways thought id share this cool phenomenon.

  1. This is awesome. If you have photoshop, play with the images a bit. I'm sure with a few minor effects, they'd be even cooler.

  4. Very awesome looking. I remember growing up in the cold and flash freezes were always awful. Often ran into problems with pipes freezing and bursting. :/

  7. I went and saw Lake Michigan a couple of weeks ago. The entire beach was frozen over and icicles were everywhere. One of the coolest frozen things I'd seen.

  20. I love how the deep cold can effect certain things. It can impose a strange sort of order on a landscape, give it a new sort of character and personality. Very cool to be sure!
