Threadless...

Threadless.com is the shit, just saying. They have lots of cool graphic tees, i always buy my shirts there. They basically take user submitted designs put them on shirts and share their profits with them, really wide range of designs.

Here is some stuff i bought recently:

Anyway have a bunch to do today, hitting up the Toronto Auto Show tomorrow so that's another full day ordeal. Ill see if i can get some cool pictures to share. See you guys tomorrow.

Steve Jobs dies in 6 weeks

Anyone else hear about this?  Very recent story, im guessing its going to be a big deal in a little bit.

Here is the link to the article. What do you guys think about this? Real or not. Personally not a fan of Apple at all but  this is a pretty big deal. Imagine their stocks going to shit, maybe M$ will buy all of that up.  Anyway good luck Steve.

Whats up guys, don't have much time today for a real post, and possibly even tomorrow. Have to work both days + school work and some tests. :( Anyway i thought id show you guys kind of a prequel to that BMW video a couple days back.

yay linux!

So flash back to me restoring my old thinkpad, i installed xubuntu today just to give Linux a try and i must say im really enjoying it so far. Im especially in love with the fact that everything is free. The experience so far has been great and everything is  alot easier then i thought it would be.

I think im going to try out Gentoo next, something a little more srs bsns. But seriously if you've ever been curious about Linux give ubuntu a try. You can try it right off the CD/USB or you can even download it within windows and not even have to partition your drive. Its really fun to move to something new and out of the ordinary after using windows for so long.

I Love ThinkPads

So i was digging through some crap in the basement and i found this old ass Thinkpad that my dad used to have  for his work. Anyway i figured i could really use a laptop for internet/word so why not try to bring it back to life.

Its not the prettiest but it gets the job done. Im actually liking the really squarish style it has going on lol.

Long story short, i spent about a $100 in parts that will hopefully get it back on its feet. New battery, more RAM, new HDD, and some keys that were missing.  Still waiting for all this to get here but the computer is running great for being about 8 years old. Im really impressed with the engineering and smarts that went into making Thinkpads, its a shame more people don't use them. The thing even has a light where a web cam would be so you can see what your typing in the middle of the night.(back-lite keyboard are overrated :P).

I also had a bunch of stickers laying around and got kind of carried away:

Anyway thought id share my Thinkpad experience. If you can get one of these for cheep or even free do it, its a great piece of hardware. Just install some good old xp or ubuntu/mint and you have yourself a pretty un-stylish netbook.

Nokia + Microsoft = ?

So as you may or may not know, Nokia is ditching its Symbian OS in place for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7. This is a pretty big deal. Nokia promised lots of things in store for Symbian but now they are just dropping it all together. This will be a really good move for Microsoft as it will popularize their new OS.

So two companies that were once on top of the mobile phone market are coming together, should be a interesting ride. WinPhone7 doesn't look too promising to me but i guess time will tell, maybe Nokia will be able to make it into something great.

Crazy Flash Freeze?

So a couple days ago i was hanging out with my friends and we went down to Lake Ontario since i live relatively close to it. We just go there to hang out a lot. Well apparently the past couple nights its been cold as fuck on the shore and this happened:

I wish i grabbed some more pictures but oh well. It was one of the coolest things iv ever seen for sure, all of the rocks along the shore had a perfect inch thick layer of ice on them. I was standing on a dock and the top of it was just covered in giant chunks of ice like the ones seen floating in the water. In the first pic the thing that looks like a pipe is another dock, you can see how ice covered it is.

Anyways thought id share this cool phenomenon.

Just a fact...

After watching the new trailer for Deus Ex and seeing how shitty the game looked due to horrible AA, being that it was made with console footage, i just want to share this picture.

That is all, have a nice day. :)

The Wackness

So i just finished watching "The Wackness" and i have to say it was simply amazing. Iv never heard of it before one of my friends mentioned it to me and im glad i didn't miss out on this movie.

Now i don't really want to give a review of the movie but rather just mention what its about and recommend that you check it out.

IMDB Description:

It's the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip-hop. Set against this backdrop, a lonely teenager named Luke Shapiro spends his last summer before university selling marijuana throughout New York City, trading it with his unorthodox psychotherapist for treatment, while having a crush on his stepdaughter.

The movie is based around New York and the awesome hip hop scene of the time. So there is a lot of really good music that you'll hear through out the movie. Especially a lot of Notorious BIG and A Tribe Called Quest. You should watch this movie for the music alone. The story is great and a lot of people can probably relate to Luke and even learn something useful.

Next time your looking for something to do  on a boring night, i hope you check out this movie. Peace.

Portal

So i just finished playing through Portal for probably the 5th time. I cant wait to play Portal 2 and have some awesome co-op adventures with  friends. If you haven't heard of or played Portal i suggest you get to it. You can buy the game for $15 on steam and even though it will probably only take you 3 hours to beat the game, it will be time and money well spent. Once you pick it up you wont want to stop playing so make sure you have some time on your hands lol.

Anyone else really excited for Portal 2?

Oh, and above you can see how to make your very own companion cube :)

Stance

Illest/Fatlace is a pretty popular company in the scene and you'll see their stickers branding some of the best cars.

I'm a pretty big fan of the whole "stanced" car scene. What is stance you might ask? Well its basically how a car sits. The perfect stance is questionable and people have their own opinions but it all comes down to a couple things.

Ridiculous Wheel Fitment

Check the stretch and poke on that wheel bro.

 Low
Scrape.
And just an overall clean/badass look.

Here is some eye candy.

Multiple monitors, is it worth it?

So as you know most likely from a previous post, i am currently using 3 monitors. This is pretty new to me but before this i used 2 monitors for about 2 years. Both of them were 1680x1050 so i recently picked up a 1920x1080 monitor to replace one of them. So how did i end up with 3? Im too lazy to get rid of one, lol.

Basically going from 1 to 2 monitors was a huge improvement in productivity. You don't realize all the advantages of another monitor until you actually try it for yourself. My main use for it was  having all my social networking on there, such as skype/aim/msn/vent and then i would be able to see incoming IMs all the time. Id also use it for watching videos or looking at websites while doing other things such as homework or playing a game. Once you use 2 monitors its hard to go back.

Now as for 3 monitors it really depends on what your doing. But even the simplest PC user can find  a use for 3. It just comes down to is it worth the extra $$. A simple user can have his main work on the primary monitor, their social networking on the other and then music for example on the 3rd. Now this is possible and i guess its nice but  it really doesn't justify spending the extra money for a monitor and then a way to hook it up to your computer (remember most graphics cards only support 2 monitors).
Am i the only one who really dislikes full screening their browser? lol

Ironically this is how my desktop looks most of the time, website on the primary, music on the 3rd and social crap on the 1st. I wouldn't go out of my way to achieve this setup. I can only think of a couple times that iv said to myself  "thank god i have this 3rd monitor". But for some reason i really like it there and probably wont be going back to a 2 monitor setup.

Oh yea and you can do this if you have an eyefinity card :P

So in conclusion, you probably dont need 3 monitors but at the same time you probably wont regret getting a 3rd monitor. If your still in 1 monitor land i strongly recommend you try a dual monitor setup to increase your productivity and just give you a generally better experience.

Thats it.. oh and 100 followers, thanks guys.

My Computer; Updated Pics

Figured id just post the whole setup while im at it.

This computer is responsible for pretty much all my entertainment and also allows me to do my job. Its pretty beastly even though its a tad bit out dated. I think its really important to have a very powerful machine if you're using it a lot and its a great investment.

PRO TIP: If you're thinking of maybe getting a new computer consider building it yourself. You'll save money unless you're just going to get some low-mid range computer from Dell or another big company like that. But when it comes to high performance and reliability, you cant beat a computer with hand picked parts that you built yourself, based on your own research. If you have absolutely no clue about anything computer related then maybe you should just stay away, but if you're really dedicated you can find all the info you need online.

Specs:
i7 920 @ 4ghz
H50 Cooler
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
