yay linux!

So flash back to me restoring my old thinkpad, i installed xubuntu today just to give Linux a try and i must say im really enjoying it so far. Im especially in love with the fact that everything is free. The experience so far has been great and everything is  alot easier then i thought it would be.

I think im going to try out Gentoo next, something a little more srs bsns. But seriously if you've ever been curious about Linux give ubuntu a try. You can try it right off the CD/USB or you can even download it within windows and not even have to partition your drive. Its really fun to move to something new and out of the ordinary after using windows for so long.

  1. Ubuntu is seriously very great as a newbie's entry into the linux world. And if you're indecisive, you can always have both and dual boot.

But got a linux server that I can ssh into so I'm learning it from there.

  5. If you want some recommendations, try openSUSE, Sabayon and if you really liked Ubuntu, try Mint. And if you want to stay on Linux for good, install Wine in your system to get compatibility with Windows software.

    Cheers

  6. I used Linux for 6 months some time ago, it's really good, you can customize everything in it, but I still prefer Windows

  8. My only experience with Linix was on my EEE PC. It was okay and did as I wanted, but don't see myself replacing windows anytime soon.

  14. I'm a huge fan of Gentoo with everything tuned and compiled from source...sadly I'm proud that it took me 32 hours to do a full install once - but it rocked!
